“A woman who doesn’t wear perfume has no future.”~ Coco Chanel

That saying may seem a little far fetched to some of you, but it makes sense to me. What else can you expect from a woman in her 20s? I love perfume. That’s me!

I think it’s wonderful to have a scent that adds to who you are, and one that people remember you by – a memory trigger.

I’ve been a huge perfume fan forever. I remember trying out all my mom’s perfumes as a young girl, even when I wasn’t allowed to. Growing up, it has almost been a love-hate affair.

The issue I’ve had with perfumes is that, with some I get a heady whiff the moment I apply them in the morning; but could never seem to make a good, subtle scent last all day or the scent is so strong that it gives me a headache.

But not one to give up, I continued trying out hundreds of perfumes to get what I want. My girlfriends call me a true iconoclast (is that even the word?) who loves living life.

A few months back, a chance meeting with a long-lost friend led me to Molecule 01 perfume by Escentric Molecules, and I’ve fallen in love with it. When I wear my next scent, whenever that is, this scent will always bring me back to where I’m right now. With the way I feel, there may not even be a next scent.

What is Molecule 01, you may ask!

When I first heard the name “Molecule 01” it reminded me of chemistry, a subject I abhorred with all my heart. But the molecule perfume is a mystery that comes wrapped and cradled in an enchanting scent upon the skin.

When I first tried this scent from Escentric Molecules, it did nothing for me. My friend and I applied it as suggested, but our noses couldn’t comprehend the subtle scent. But when I went out, I was surprised when someone asked me what I was wearing. My husband also said I smelled real good. That’s when my love affair with this magical Molecule perfume began. If boys love the fragrance, who am I to say no?

I then came to know that the Molecule perfume is not actually a perfume. I was curious and did a lot of reading on Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 perfumes.

Okay, here is what I gathered…

Aroma chemicals are like the “invisible elves” that are used in all modern perfumes to produce different scents like rose, jasmine etc. Some chemicals like Molecule 01 give you a scent even without being added to a perfume, while others either don’t have any smell or have a stinky smell and can’t be used alone.

That means, although we use it as a perfume, Molecule 01 perfume is not actually a perfume; it’s an aroma chemical which behaves differently from a perfume.

It’s not easy explaining, but let me try. If you wear a perfume, you can smell it immediately, right? But with Escentric Molecules 01, you will not smell anything much, because of the large molecular size. (I may have hated chemistry in school but I managed to learn a little).

Escentric Molecules 01 interacts with our skin’s natural scent. Once it develops on the skin, the beautiful scent surrounds you alluringly like an aura. It’s like those lipsticks that we used to have as kids – the ones that revealed the color only after some time.

There has been a lot of talk about the Molecule 01 perfume having a pheromonal effect, enhancing sexual attractiveness. Most perfumes contain mammalian pheromones, but Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 brings out the natural pheromones in our bodies.

You may find this funny, but it makes me feel like I’m a scientific experiment gone right, when I wear the Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 perfume. I genuinely feel Molecule 01 is for people like me who love to be different. Are you different?
