9 Healthy Fast Food Options For Lunch or Dinner

We all know that in our day and age it is hard to have a healthy lifestyle. This is mainly attributed to the fact that we spend many hours at work, school and of course on the road. These day to day activities temper the ability of most of us to keep a healthy diet. Eating on the go and doing less physical exercises than normal definitely put their strains on both our bodies and minds. That is why we wanted to make an article on the most healthy fast food options, to help people in these situations find a balance in their diets.

Although many of us think that fast food menus can be considered junk food, we were delighted to find that some fast food restaurants have specialized over the years in healthier food options. These fast food healthy options can really make an impact on our diets and help us improve our daily lives. In order to find out the healthiest fast foods, we devised a few parameters in which these food items should be:

  • Protein levels – according to nutritionists a good protein meal must contain at least 10 grams of proteins.
  • Normal fat levels – heart diseases are mainly related to trans fats, that is why we did not include meals that exaggerate fat levels.
  • Optimal sugar levels – the main reason for which we gain in weight when we eat fast food meals is closely related to the quantity of added sugar. As such, we considered meals with less than 20 grams of sugar.
  • Optimal calorie levels – healthy fast food options for lunch should contain maximum 500 calories.
  • Optimal sodium levels – high blood pressure is related in many ways to sodium levels. Unfortunately, many fast food meals including healthy fast food options contain relatively high levels of sodium. That is why we aimed at meals that contain less than 1.000 milligrams of sodium.

Now that we have covered the parameters in which we researched the most healthy options at fast food restaurants, we can continue by presenting our findings.

1. McDonald’s

2. KFC

  • 4 Hot Wings plus Sweet Kernel Corn – it has 16.5 grams of fat, 4 grams of saturated fat and 380 calories.
  • Kentucky Grilled Chicken Breast with mashed potatoes and no gravy – the meal contains 10 grams of fat, 2.5 grams of saturated fat and 310 calories.
  • KFC Original Recipe Chicken Drumstick – the meal has 7 grams of fat, 1.5 grams of saturated fats and 120 calories.

3. Burger King

  • Whopper Jr. with no mayo plus Valued Sized Onion Rings – the meal contains 18 grams of fat, 5.5 grams of saturated and 410 calories.
  • Veggie Burger together with apple slices – this meal has 16 grams of fat, 205 grams of saturated fats and 440 calories.
  • 4 Piece Chicken Nuggets – the meal holds 11 grams of fat, 2 grams of saturated fats and 190 calories.

4. Taco Bell

  • Fresco Chicken Soft Taco with Pintos ‘n’ Cheese – this delicious meal has 10.5 grams of fat, 4 grams of saturated fats and 330 calories.
  • Fresco Steak Burrito Supreme with black beans – this burrito holds 10.5 grams of fat, 3 grams of saturated fats and 430 calories.
  • Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco – these delicious Doritos have 10 grams of fats, 3.5 grams of saturated fats and 160 calories.
