Who Is the Strongest Superhero? Top 10 Superheroes

New

Determining who the strongest superhero of them all is has been a topic of debate for decades now. It’s not an easy thing to do since everyone has the tendency to tap into their subjectivity to draw out their conclusions. But is there a way to crown the mightiest superhero in a properly scientific and objective way? We’re no scientists, unfortunately, but we’ll try to reduce the numerous superheroes in existence to ten. From that point on, through comparison, we’ll narrow them one by one until we end up with the definitive winner.

Buckle up, grab your Marvel or DC merch, and let the quest for the strongest superhero commence.

#10 Thor

Thor gets since instant bonus points due to his status as a literal godly being. However, even among the rest of the Asgardian gods, Thor is pretty special. He possesses copious levels of superhuman strength, possibly being the strongest of Norse gods in terms of sheer physical prowess. Moreover, Mjolnir is a fearful weapon which can call upon the very wrath of the skies. The fact that only Thor can use it is also a welcome advantage.

#9 Hulk

On one hand, we have the Hulk. On another hand, we have Bruce Banner. Both of them are contributing parts that create such a deadly whole. Bruce Banner is capable of some neat scientific breakthroughs, but it’s when he gets furious that things really go downhill. As the Hulk, Bruce Banner is driven mostly by rage, so nothing stands between him and the target of his superhuman strength. Aside from that, he is also extremely agile and the fact that he essentially has no moral compass makes him a ticking timebomb.

#8 Martian Manhunter

Similarly to Thor, J’onn starts off with the advantage of already being powerful thanks to his alien roots. But he’s special even among his own kind. This is partly due to his training on Mars and the fact that he spent time on Earth too. Martian Manhunter’s powers revolve primarily around psionic energy. This allows him to blast his opponents using psionic beams or to repent other attacks using his highly-resistant psionic shields. The bottom line is that Martian Manhunter may not be THE strongest superhero, but he’s definitely a worthy contestant.

#7 Superman

It’s pretty weird to see the Man of Steel rank so relatively low, but in comparison with the other upcoming superheroes, he’s not supreme in his power. The famed Clark Kent possesses some abilities that we’re all well familiar with. He can fly, and at extremely high speeds too, he has super optic powers, and he has a physical strength that’s nearly unmatched. Despite all of this, a meeting with a magic user might render him pretty, well… useless. Under all other circumstances, however, Superman is a force to be reckoned.

#6 Jean Grey

Some argue that Jean Grey is the strongest superhero in the X-Men universe. We go even further and make the claim that she’s the strongest female superhero in ANY universe. Jean Grey literally contains all of her enormous power in her head, being able to act out on it with a simple thought. As if she wasn’t already powerful enough thanks to her telekinetic and telepathic abilities, as the Phoenix, she becomes almost indestructible. Most of the time, the only thing standing between her and an exhibit of power that could destroy anything in its path is her strong humanity. But without this moral compass, anyone standing in her way better fear for their lives.

#5 Nova

Richard Rider, also known as Nova, is definitely one of the more underrated superheroes. He’s an intergalactic enforcer of the law who earned his powers from a dying Xandarian, the former leader of Xandar’s Nova Corps. After the incident, Nova has been polishing his abilities, which include superhuman strength and durability, flight, endurance, and energy absorption. No, it’s more than just that, it’s taking someone else’s energy and turning it into your own. What’s more, Nova is also donned in a special outfit which is both incredibly resistant and packed with weapons of its own.

#4 Doctor Strange

There’s no better time to invoke Doctor Strange’s merits than now, with the release of the latest MCU installment. Stephen Strange is also called the “Sorcerer Supreme,” which we reckon is a strong argument for his claim as the strongest superhero. With his magic prowess, Strange is able to do pretty much anything he willfully desires. He can shoot beams, teleport, make shields, stop or reverse time, fly, resurrect the dead, and a whole bunch of other incredible things. His one weakness is the fact that he’s still a human with powers, so he can definitely get hurt. Good luck trying to do that, though.

#3 The Silver Surfer

Zenn-La astronomer Norrin Radd became the Silver Surfer after agreeing to become Galactus’ herald. Cue a few intergalactic adventures and a chat with Alicia Masters and he realized that his stance was the wrong one, leading to him turning against Galactus and his will. The Silver Surfer is able to do a myriad of things, some of which are plain mind blowing. He is coated in a durable metal, he can project illusions, see through time, manipulate the universe’s ambient energy, and perceive life forms. This isn’t even all!

#2 The Spectre

To qualify as a runner-up in this competition, you need to be able to affect everything around you on a universal level and the Spectre can do just that. At its full extent, his powers are capable of shattering universes. That begs the question of why he’s not the strongest superhero in our book. The answer lies with the fact that he has plenty of limitations and weaknesses, including the Presence which always takes his power down a notch.

Dr. Jonathan Osterman acquired his incredible abilities after a particularly bad experience in an Intrinsic Field Subtractor. He is definitely the strongest member of the Watchmen, but he is also the strongest superhero ever in our book. In the movie alone, he was shown to be able to teleport at will through space and time, to perceive objects on an atomic level, and to obliterate entire planets. But, surprise, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. One of his greatest limitations is his own apathy; he simply doesn’t care enough to be a passionate world defender.

Final Words

Do you agree with this list? Who is the strongest superhero in your book? And how cool would it be to see all of these guys take it on in a death battle?
