Top 4 Playroom Ideas On A Budget for Your Kids’ Room

No matter what era, century or year we’re in, children will always need space to play; and they will find a place if they’re not given one. If you have a child, sure enough, you can designate a play area for him/her in the house. Such rooms are usually called playrooms. Designing a playroom is an activity that you and your child can do together. Today we are going to show you several playroom ideas on a budget you can use to save some cash.

1. Choose a Theme

First things first, you need to decide a theme for the playroom. Just by throwing things around and having a few shelves and cupboards will not be enough. You need to be going in for a particular feel and once you have that, the color of the walls come next. To be on the safe side, paint the walls with chalkboard paint. In the event of any touching up, chalkboard paint just makes it easier to paint on. Ask your child what their favorite color is to make them feel a part of the decision making process.

If you decide from the start what theme you are going to stick to, you won’t spend money on useless items. At the same time, remind your child that the decision is a permanent one, and you won’t be changing the decor of the room any time soon.

2. Use Durable Flooring

When it comes to the flooring, invest in something durable and safe. Your child will most probably spend a lot of time in the room and you don’t want to be watching his/her every step to check if the flooring’s cracked or a tile is loose. So go in for safe and wholesome floorboards, if at all. Avoid wood or cement since they require a lot of upkeep; tiles are the safest, cheapest and most durable. It may seem like an expensive thing to do at first, but it will be worth it in time.

3. Less Is More

Don’t cram the room with furniture. Just keep a few essential chairs and a table, if need be. You may be tempted to buy a lot of funny items or colorful items, but stick to the basics.

4. Set Aside a Storage Area

Another one of the best playroom ideas on a budget is to dedicate a part of the playroom to function as a storage area. So the onus of clearing up all the toys after play time is on the child. If the child is looking for some toy, he/she will know exactly where to look for it. Keep all the toys in bins within the child’s reach. Don’t waste time and money in fixing a tall shelf or a high cupboard.

You can make use of shelves, drawers, boxes, and bins, so you don’t need to spend more money. Place them in corners facing the wall to aid easy movement along the room; don’t place them somewhere in the way.
