Fix Your Acne with Vitamins!

Fix Your Acne with Vitamins!

Acne is probably the bane of every teenager’s life. Although it’s most frequent on teenage faces, pregnant and menopausal women too suffer from severe acne while undergoing that phase. One of the main reasons for acne is hormonal imbalance within the body. There are many speculations as to what causes the imbalance. It could be your diet, the weather change, illness. The mechanism behind this is that the toxins released by the skin aren’t filtered properly by the liver and other such organs. So it’s still waiting to be released and it’s done so by way of acne. Acne can range from an innocuous bump to a skin infection.

Acne is the first sign that there is an imbalance within the body. The best way to fix that is by taking vitamins. In case of acne, mild soaps and face-washes and eating a lot of fiber along with vitamins will definitely help reduce the symptoms and eventually rid your face of them completely. A few vitamins you could try to treat your acne are given below-

1. Boswellia:

Boswellia is often used for topical herbal acne treatments. It has not been studied specifically as an acne cure, but it does have definite antibiotic properties.

2. Calendula:

An ancient remedy for inflamed skin, Calendula eases the redness and inflammation of the skin. There are some reports of allergic reactions to calendula when used topically. Check with your physician whether or not calendula is suited for you- an allergic reaction can be a side effect.

3. Guggul:

Guggul is one of modern research’s best works. In one study comparing it with tetracycline, an antibiotic commonly prescribed for acne, guggul performed better, leading to more improvement, especially when patients’ skin was oily. What adds to this is that, guggul was shown to have a fraction of the side effects of tetracycline.

4. Lavender:

With a well loved fragrance and widely popular flower, Lavender not only has documented antibiotic properties but a track record of being used for acne treatments as well.

5. Tea Tree Oil:

With a powerful antiseptic of antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties, Tea tree oil kills the bacteria that cause acne. It’s supported by modern research to be as effective as benzoyl peroxide in treating acne and with fewer side effects.

6. Vitamin A:

Vitamin A treats acne temporarily and therefore has limited usefulness. Given the chances of an overdose, people are discouraged from taking Vitamin A to treat acne. However, Retin-A, derived from Vitamin A is quite useful when it comes to counter acne.

7. Zinc:

Zinc’s recommended dosage is 30 mg per day, should be taken only after consulting with your physician. Usually 1-2 mg of copper is taken along with it as well so that it keeps in check, the body’s copper level. Zinc reduces the inflammation that acne brings with it.

Just remember that results take time to show. Along with taking these supplements you also have to watch your diet and health and try and maintain a hormonal balance. Common sense and healthy living can help a lot to make your face a clear reflection of your personality.
